Thoughtful design with great sailing performance – it’s the award-winning Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 409

This boat, a new addition to Charter Novak’s offer, deserves presentation more than any other. In fact, the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 409 is the perfect summer vacation choice, which granted her the 2011 European Yacht of the Year award in the category of Family Cruisers. But let’s see why this boat is perfect as a rental solution for the novice sailor, but won’t disappoint the experienced one as well.
Design and performance
Starting from the angular hull design, which provides more stability during navigation and more space below deck, there are a few novelties worth mentioning. All lines are well routed providing a clean and uncluttered forward deck. Helm stations and cockpit work well, allowing the sailors to sail, while the rest of the group can sit back and enjoy the ride from the cockpit. Though all experts agree on the shortcoming of a one-winch-per-station solution, this becomes obvious only if you sail short handed, when the autopilot becomes a must. Manoeuvrability and helm stability, on the other hand, work surprisingly well for a boat of her category.
Whichever interior layout you choose, the saloon layout is basically the same, providing and excellent dinette solution, with ample space to accommodate the entire crew still being able to transform into a double berth. Last, but not at all least, another novelty introduced by this model is the energetic efficiency, provided by solar panels, LED lighting and the low energy consumption Frigoboat.
That said, it is clear why the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 409 has become a top choice among charter companies, but also among sailing lovers that love to share their voyage with friends and family.
