Renowned summer destination for a few years now, Hvar is the island of contrasts. The town of Hvar is the place to go if you like to party, see and be seen while enjoying your evening in one of its many bars and restaurants. But it is nevertheless a wonderful mediterranean renaissance city, with many historic pallazzos, picturesque squares and some really unique architectural treasures.
History, art and tradition cohabitate in the other centers of the island as well. From Stari Grad to Jelsa and Vrboska, you’ll find UNESCO protected landscapes, renaissance mansions, traditional food and unique local crafts. And as a frame for all this man-made marvels there are endless vineyards, olive and lavender grows that give the island an unique atmosphere and some of its traditional products, such as the wine Plavac and excellent olive oil.
Sailing around Hvar
From Hvar you can easily reach Paklinski (or Pakleni) islands, an archipelago a few miles off Hvar’s coast and a favourite nautical destination. Mediterranean landscapes with numerous peaceful bays and and a laid-back atmosphere make it the perfect spot for an all-day sailing excursion. Mooring is possible at the marina Palmižana (211 berths) on Sveti Klement island, the biggest of the 16 Paklinski islands.
